The National Child Welfare Resource Center for
Organizational Improvement links
states by telephone to share information and hear from experts on topics
you have identified as critical to the management of child welfare agencies.
No special
equipment is needed, although a speaker phone allows any number of people
at the same location to participate. Most sessions last 60 to 90 minutes.
While teleconferencing can never replace face-to-face
training, the method saves
time and money. There are no food or travel costs, no accommodation costs,
and
even more important, no time wasted travelling to a central site. That
means no loss in productivity. People receive knowledge, stimulation and
a respite from the job without losing a day’s work.
How does the teleconference program work?
Through this website and by mail, we provide information to you and your
agency about available training programs and workshops. Register for one
or several events by email at
our online registration
form, or by calling 1-800-HELP KID (435-7543). When you register you
will be given the phone number to call to take part in the program. Be
sure to download the online handouts for any teleconference you find interesting.
Can I ask questions?
The teleconference Line is an interactive system. People can talk directly
to the
presenters and all sessions are structured to allow time for questions.
Because we use a “voice-activated” system, only one person
can be heard at a time. The voice activates the system. This avoids the
confusion of hearing several people at once.
Be sure to use the mute button on your telephone speaker when listening.
This will eliminate background noise from your own site.
How much does it cost?
We offer our teleconference programs free of charge. But please remember to preregister so we can send you handouts and
other materials before the teleconference.
